Wakame and Onion Fritters

Crispy fritters made with wakame and onion using a batter of all-purpose flour and beer (or sparkling water). The onions turn sweet! You can also add whitebait or sakura shrimp for extra flavor.

Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  1. 1/4onion
  2. 30 gwakame (rehydrated)
  3. 2 tablespoonswhitebait
  4. 1/4 cupall-purpose flour
  5. 1/4 cupplus 1 tablespoon sparkling water
  6. About 1/2 cup canola oil (for frying)

Steps

  1. 1

    Slice the onion and let it sit exposed to air for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Rehydrate the dried wakame.

  3. 3

    Squeeze the onion and wakame with kitchen paper until thoroughly dry.

    Mix the all-purpose flour and sparkling water to make the batter.
    ☆ It should have a smooth, flowing consistency.

  5. 5

    Dip the ingredients in the batter and fry.
    ★ Fry until the sound and bubbles become small.

  6. 6

    Place on kitchen paper to drain the oil.
