Super Easy Basque Cheesecake

Originating from a Spanish bar, Basque cheesecake is rich, melts in your mouth, and has a delightful toasted flavor. It's very delicious.

The story behind this recipe:
I tried a Basque cheesecake from a convenience store and it was so good that I decided to make it myself. I've written two methods for making it.

  8. 8

    Baking
Preheat the oven to 450°F. After 20 minutes, when the top is browned, reduce the temperature to 400°F and bake for another 10 minutes. The cake will jiggle slightly when done.

  9. 9

The browning is up to your preference, but since ovens vary, use 30 minutes as a guideline and adjust accordingly.

  10. 10

Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate thoroughly before cutting. It will be smooth and melt in your mouth, with a delicious toasted flavor.

  11. 11

If substituting granulated sugar with regular sugar, use 8 tablespoons.

  12. 12

    Note
Bake at 430°F for 30 minutes. The browning will be lighter, but it's easy as you don't need to check it during baking.

  13. 13

    Note
Soften the cream cheese to a mayonnaise-like consistency for easier mixing.

  14. 14

    Note
After cutting, you can microwave for 10-20 seconds for a warm, melty texture.

  15. 15

Cutting while freshly baked is not recommended as it's too soft.
