After eating out a lot, I realized I needed to watch my weight.
Skipping meals isn’t an option, and fasting doesn’t last! Eggs are a great source of protein, and mushrooms are full of fiber.
So, I decided to make a filling rice porridge!

Start a light diet with extra water and just a bit of rice.
Steps

Rinse the cooked rice in a fine-mesh strainer to remove excess starch. This will make the rice less sticky and more separated.

Pour the broth (1 cup/250 ml, depending on the brand) into a pot and bring to a boil. Add the rinsed rice, soy sauce (2 teaspoons), and sake (2 teaspoons).

Add your favorite mushrooms, dried wakame, shio kombu, and the beaten egg.

Top with your choice of ginger (recommended), toasted sesame seeds, green onions or scallions, and bonito flakes.

If you have a sensitive stomach or are recovering from illness, you can skip the mushrooms as they may be harder to digest.*
