Ingredients

20 minutes
3-4 servings
  • 6 pcsruhi fish marinated
  • 3/4 cupboiled chaulai (amaranthus) stems
  • 1/2 cupmustard seeds masala paste
  • 2 Tbspmustard oil to fry
  • 2 Tbspmustard oil to cook
  • 1/2 Tspponch phutan
  • 2green chilli cut
  • 1onion sliced
  • 1.5 Tbspchopped garlic
  • 2ripe tomatoes chopped
  • 1/3 Tspturmeric powder
  • 1 Tspsalt or as required
  • 1 bowlsteamed rice

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Arrange the required ingredients first. Heat 2 Tbsp mustard oil and fry six pcs of marinated rohu fish from both the sides. Set aside.

    In the same fry pan heat 2 Tbsp mustard oil, add ponch phutan and allow it to crackle. Add chopped onion, green chilli chopped garlic and green chilli. Saute till aromatic and onion are translucent.

    Then add chopped tomato salt, a pinch of turmeric powder and boiled stems of saag. Cook on low flame till tomatoes are mushy.

    Add the mustard masala paste and half a cup of water for gravy. Allow to boil. Add already fried fish to the mustard paste gravy and cook for a minute.

    The rohu fish curry is ready to be served with steamed rice and salad. Thanks.
