Fried Chicken Wontons

Since March, there have been few reasons to eat outside. Almost everyday a recipe is put to the test. However last week, I was in a restaurant mood, so we headed out for dinner. A lot of people in the area have good things to say about this restaurant we went to (KK Malaysian). From the outside it wouldn't look like the greatest restaurant, but man the food is good! The first thing we ordered was Fried Chicken Wontons. It was Kingsley's first time and he fell in love with it. So what does that mean? Well we make it at home :) We made some for us, and we made some for Kingsley's ex-housemates. I have drifted a bit from the typical Wonton recipe, but it still tasted great, so I guess that is alright :)

Steps
- 1
Typically, the raw ingredients are mixed and then stuffed into the wonton skin
- 2
However I decided to cook the stuffing 50%
- 3
Because of this, I left the egg out (to help with the binding)
- 4
It worked out fine, and still tasted great
- 5
In a pan, sauté the onions and ginger
- 6
Add the mince and chilli chicken powder and let it brown slightly
- 7
Add the coriander, salt and pepper and give it a good mix
- 8
Set Aside
- 9
Take a wonton skin and place a tsp of the filling and wrap it up
- 10
Heat some oil in a frying pan and deep fry the wontons until golden brown
- 11
Drain the excess oil on some absorbent paper
- 12
Serve hot with some chilli sauce
- 13
NOTE: If you choose to leave the curry powder - mix some mince chicken, minced onion, ginger, coriander, salt and pepper
- 14
Add a beaten egg and a tsp of corn flour
- 15
Give it a good mix and stuff away
