A mezhukkupurati which I learned from my mother-in-law.....Its just yummy to have sea food mixed with any vegetable.....You can try the same with achinga payar, pumpkin, ridge gourd, vazha koombu (Banana flower) etc...
Steps
- 1
First clean the prawns and cook them in a pan with two green chillies slit, curry leaves, a small slice of ginger, a pinch of turmeric and salt. Once cooked, keep them separately.
- 2
Clean and chop Spinach or Cheera (preferably red cheera). You can also take the stem of it and cut them into small pieces separately. Keep them aside.
- 3
Clean and slice the shallots. Heat oil in a pan, saute the sliced shallots, green chillies, and add salt and turmeric powder. Once it turns golden brown, add the cooked prawns and the chopped stems into the pan and close with a lid for 5- 10 minutes as the stems need some time to cook.
- 4
Now add the chopped cheera and mix it well and close with a lid to cook for 5 - 10 minutes on a medium heat. In between do mix it so that it do not stick at the bottom of the pan.
- 5
After 5 minutes, you can remove the lid as spinach leaves shrink fastly and cook them till it is done. Now your mezhkupuratti is ready and have it with hot rice.....
