Moong Dal Dosa - Split Yellow Lentil Dosa

Before coming to the city of gardens, when ever I craved for a dosa; it was always going to one of my favourite restaurants with friends back home. All of us used to order our usual favourite ‘mysoremasala dosa’; eating those crispy bites with some spicy chutney and finishing with a hot coffee made our day!
The thought of making this thin paper-like dish at home seemed like a task until I decided to move out of my comfort zone and finally made dosas at home. Ohh what a feeling of pride and achievement it was, the homemade ones were so much better and ‘lighter’ on the stomach!
After many successful attempts and different combinations, I thought of making dosas for Magic Mingle hosted by Kalyani. A simple recipe prepared with yellow moong dal and spiced with peppercorns turned out to be perfect!

Steps
- 1
Mix dosa rice and yellow moong dal together, wash under water; soak overnight.
- 2
Next day grind the dal and rice with water, the batter should be of pouring consistency.
- 3
Add crushed peppercorns and salt as per taste.
- 4
Spiced with freshly crushed pepper corns and salt
- 5
Heat a non stick pan / dosa pan at medium high, sprinkle little oil on top of the pan if required.
- 6
Since I was using a non-stick pan I dint use any oil
- 7
Pour the batter on the pan making a round circle starting from center towards the edges.
- 8
Smear oil along the edges of the batter.
- 9
Remove the dosa from pan when it is golden brown in color.
- 10
I dint have patience to make several dosas and take a pic, I just had to eat them right away.
- 11
Serve hot with coconut or tomato chutney!
