Okra, Okro or some may know this as Lady Fingers belongs to the same family as hibiscus. Okra contains potassium, vitamin b, vitamin c, folic acid calcium.okra has been suggested to help with diabetes and gestational diabetes.

Cooking Instructions

Soak Okra in water for about an hour
- 2
Dry Okra thoroughly until there are no longer any fine fibres.
- 3
Slice the Okra into thin slices.
- 4
Heat oil and fry dices onions.
- 5
Add the chillies, garlic and turmeric powder to the fried onions.
- 6
Let the Okra fry on low heat for about 10 minutes, the texture will be a bit sticky. Add a little water when required. The Okra should take about 45 min to cook.

Note to self: I absolutely love okra, it’s one of my favorite vegetables right after beets. There’s just something about cooking okra that reminds me of childhood. I remember my mom using leftover okra and making grilled stuffed sandwiches with them. Now this recipe is one of my mom’s and I’ve been sworn into secrecy about the spices used. (My family owns a Pakistani restaurant, Lazeez Asian Cuisine, and disclosing the spices aren’t an option as of yet). But I’ve found a way around it with the permission of my momma so you guys can enjoy the authentic taste of Pakistani cuisine!
