Cooking Instructions
- 1
Season & brown ground beef well. drain.
- 2
Shred carrot.
- 3
Finely chop 1-2 stocks of celery.
- 4
Finely chop red onion.
- 5
Add shredded carrot, celery & onion to beef in pan.
- 6
Add mustard. Simmer for 5 mins.
- 7
Break egg into a small bowl. Can use egg whites too. Set aside.
- 8
Spoon 1 full tablespoon, give or take in Lumpia Wrapper, near one corner end of wrapper (part of wrapper that makes 90 degree angles - any of the 4 corners will do)
- 9
Roll to end. See pic example. Add egg to end of wrapper to seal off. Use fingers to spread on wrapper.
- 10
Heat large skillet with 2 cups cooking oil. Once hit, keep heat on low-medium to ensure not to burn lumpias.
- 11
Place each roll in skillet/pan, not touching each other. Cook until brown on one side, then flip over. Takes about 3-4 mins for each Lumpia to cook.
- 12
Place on paper towels to drain.
- 13
Serve with sweet & sour sauce and sweet & spicy mustard. Makes well over 1 dozen lumpias! Enjoy.

Banana Lumpia - Simple Hawaiian Dining Banana Lumpia - Simple Hawaiian Dining
History: One day my husband brought these cooking bananas home from the store. He didn't know that they existed and was surprisingly happy to find them. All I could think to use them for was this recipe that I had tasted in Hawaii and on Cebu Island. I remembered it because I watched someone make these for us on the beach. The trick is to keep adjusting the heat when frying. These banana lumpia turned out even less sweet than I thought they would, so if you have a sweet tooth, I recommend increasing the amount of sugar when wrapping these. I used brown cane sugar.
