My mother makes this from scratch. Sense I am not as good as my mother I used the gumbo mix to give me a boost. I'm from Louisiana, and if you know anything about Louisiana then you know what gumbo is.. I love this.. I eat it all year round but it normally for really cold days.

Cooking Instructions

1 hour
  1. 1

    First seasoning chicken

  2. 2

Then cut up the 3 large sausage

  3. 3

Then in a 9x10 pan place the chicken on one side and then the cut up sausage on the other side

  4. 4

    Cover with aluminum foil

  5. 5

Then place the pan into the oven on 350°F

  6. 6

Cooked chicken and sausage for about 25 minutes

  7. 7

Meanwhile get you a big pot and pour in 6 cup of water

  8. 8

Add in gumbo mix onions and bell pepper

  9. 9

Let the mixture cook down for about 15 minutes

  10. 10

Is in a chicken and sausage to the mixture

  11. 11

Once again that the gravy cook down until you feel that is thick enough

  12. 12

    Meanwhile get a medium saucepan

  13. 13

Put about a cup of rice into the saucepan

  14. 14

Then wash off or rice with water

Then put water into the saucepan and take your index finger to measure how much water is in the rice. Water should not go past the first mark on your index finger. That's how I learn to cook rice. Its works every time

  16. 16

    Add salt (optional)

  17. 17

Then put it on medium heat and let it cook

  18. 18

    You have to watch it
