whisk the egg, the milk and the vanilla in a large shallow bowl.

place your pieces of bread in the shallow bowl for 5 minutes then flip them and leave them for another 5 minutes. While the bread is soaking up the mixture turn your job on as if you were to cook Bacon, and place butter and oil (be careful to not let the burn the butter by having the heat too high as this can smell very bad)

Once the bread has been soaking up the mixture on both sides for 5 minute transfer them to the frying pan to cook. you can tell if a side is cooked by checking if there is a medium golden brown across the cooked side. Once one side is cooked flip the bread over and wait till cooked.

Once the bread is cooked serve it with sugar, lemon/orange or another topping of your choice.
