1/2 cupspry (vegetable shortening)
1/2 tspsalt
1 tspvanilla
1/4 cupsugar
1/2 cupbrown sugar, firmly packed
1egg, beaten
1/4 tspsoda
1 cupsifted flour
7 ozbar semi-sweet chocolate bar cut in large pieces
1/2 cupnuts cut

Combine spry, salt and vanilla.

Add sugars gradually and cream well.

Add egg and beat well.

Sift soda with flour.

Add flour to cream mixture and mixed well.

Add chocoate and nuts and blend.

Drop from tablespoonon spry greased baking sheets.

Bake in moderate oven 375° for 12 minutes.
