Preheat oven to 350. Place potatoes in saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to boil, cook until tender. Drain and mash with 1tsp butter and enough milk to reach desired consitancy. Continue mashing util smooth, season with salt & pepper

In large skillet over medium heat cook sausage until heated through. Remove and set aside. Add remaining butter to skillet and fry onions over medium heat until tender. Mix gravy mix and water as directed on package, add to skillet with onions. Simmer, stirring constantly to form thick gravy.

Pour half of gravy into square casserole dish so that it coats the bottom. Place sausages in a layer over the gravy (sausages can be butterflyd ) Pour remaining gravy over them, top with mashed potatoes.

Bake uncovered for 20 min or until potatoes are golden brown.
