Half fill a large pan with water 'enough to come about 1/2 way up the sides of your basin'boil.

Butter a 900ml pudding basin & spoon the golden syrup into the bottom

Cream together the butter&sugar until pale&fluffy

Add the beaten eggs &vanilla, a little at a time beating well after each addition

Using a metal spoon , fold in the flour with the milk
- 6
Pour the mix into the basin, cover. with buttered greaseproof paper or foil secure with string
- 7
Place in pan of simmering water &steam 1 1/2hrs,topping up the water as needed
