1 cupyellow cornmeal
1/2 cupap flour
1 tspsalt
1 tbspbaking powder
1 cupbuttermilk
1/2 cupwhole milk
1each egg
1/2 tspbaking soda
1/4 cupmelted shortening
2 tbspbacon grease

Preheat oven to 450

Mix corn meal, flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl.

In a separate bowl mix buttermilk, whole milk & egg. Stir in baking soda.

Preheat skillet and bacon grease until just beginning to smoke lightly.

Mix all ingredients till just mixed.

Stir in melted shortening.

Pour batter in skillet and place in oven.

Bake 20-25 minutes till toothpick comes out clean.
