Ingredients

  1. 1 cupself-raising flour
  2. 3 tbscocoa powder
  3. 250 gbutter
  4. 1/2 cupcaster sugar
  5. 1 tspvanilla essence
  6. 2egg
  7. Icing
  8. 2 tspbutter softened
  9. 1/2 tspmilk
  10. 1 tspcocoa powder sifted
  11. 1 cupicing sugar sifted

Steps

50 mins
  1. 1

    In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa, sugar, vanilla essence and melted butter.

  2. 2

    Add eggs and mix together for 1 minute.

  3. 3

    Pour into a lined cake tin and bake for 25 - 35 minutes at 160C.

  4. 4

    If the cake springs back it's cooked. Do not overcook.

  5. 5

    Icing: Mix together icing sugar, cocoa, milk and butter.

  6. 6

    Ice cake once it has cooled.
