Mix maida and baking powder well. Grate khoya. Mix maida and khoya together and make the dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 25 minutes.

Meanwhile make a sugar syrup. Heat the sugar in a pan on low flame. Add 3/4 cup of water in it.

Stir it well till the sugar dissolve. Boil the syrup for a while. Turn off the gas before it goes to one string consistency. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands. Keep aside.

Take the dough and knead it once more well. Make small size balls.

Heat the ghee on low flame. When the ghee is enough hot fry the gulab jamun in it. Fry till it becomes brown.

Take it out and keep it on tissue paper for 2 minutes. Then transfer it to the hot sugar syrup. Allow them to rest for at least 1 hour and serve.
