Hi everyone. When we hear the word Rasam we feel the aroma and the taste. This one will definitely go beyond the feeling of the aroma and taste. Beetle Leaves Rasam is one of my favourite rasam that we make in our homes and definitely the best one in the health category. Lets make it now.
Steps
- 1
Wash the beetle leaves and grind them. Add some coriander leaves and water if the mixer doesn't help grinding with two leaves.. :)
- 2
Slice the onions in half and smash the garlic cloves using the knife. Chop the tomatoes and keep them ready.
- 3
Heat the kadai and add oil. Once the oil is heated, add cumin seeds. After cumin seeds have spluttered, add garlic cloves and saute.
- 4
Once the garlic has been sauteed enough add onions and saute. Curry leaves can be added at this point with onions. Then add tomatoes and saute till smooth. We can add little salt to get the onions and tomatoes cooked faster.
- 5
Now it's time to add our aromatic beetle leaves mixture in the kadhai. Add enough water so as to get 2-3 servings.
- 6
While the mixture is getting cooked, add pepper powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and mix well. Don't forget to add salt.
- 7
Let the rasam cook well. Garnish with enough coriander leaves and switch off the stove. Now add the lemon juice and change the rasam to another vessel. Our healthy aromatic Rasam is ready to be served with white rice, any other millet rice varieties and also just as a soup.
- 8
If you see, this rasam doesn't have tamarind, mustard seeds, turmeric powder or any kind of chillies added to it. Hence this can be taken by anyone in the house.
