This is a hearty chili made with beef sirloin tips and ground beef. If you love a chunky chili like me, this is for you. I use a lot of spice because I think chili should be spicy, but that is up to you. It is perfectly fine in the mild form as well

Ingredients

Serves 5-6 Total Time: 45 min
  1. 1/2 lbBeef Stew Meat
  2. 1/2 lbGround Beef
  3. 1/2 cupchopped onion
  4. 1/2 cupchopped green bell pepper
  5. 1 can (15 Oz)Red kidney beans (undrained)
  6. 1 can (15 Oz)tomato sauce
  7. 1 can (15 Oz)diced tomatoes (undrained)
  8. 4 clovesminced garlic
  9. 4 tspchili powder
  10. 1 tspMexican oregano
  11. 1 tspCrushed habanero (or 1/2 tsp ground)
  12. 1/2 tspdried basil
  13. 1/2 tspSalt
  14. 1/4 tspblack pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    In a large sauce pan, cook and stir beef, bell pepper, chopped onion, and the garlic over medium heat until meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain fat.

    Return beef mixture into pan and stir in tomato sauce, undrained beans and tomatoes, chili powder, salt, basil, oregano, habanero, and black pepper.

    Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a low simmer. Cover and continue to simmer for 30 minutes.

    Serve with optional shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion, sour cream, or additional pepper. Enjoy!
