Khao Tom Mud (Thai Sticky Rice Banana Parcels)
Steps
- 1
Mix the salt and sugar into the coconut milk. Stir continuously until the coconut milk starts to separate and becomes oily.
- 2
Add the sticky rice and stir until the mixture is dry. Let it cool completely.
- 3
Wipe the banana leaves clean. Cut the bananas in half lengthwise.
- 4
Spoon a thin layer of sticky rice onto a piece of banana leaf. Place a banana half on top of the rice, then use your hands to fold the rice around the banana, covering it completely.
- 5
Tie both ends of the parcel with banana string or kitchen twine. Do not use rubber bands, as they can make the parcels taste bitter.
