Ingredients

  1. 1 cuppar boiled rice (soaked)
  2. 1/2 cupwater
  3. 1/2 cupurad dal (soaked)
  4. 1/2 cupwater
  5. 1/2 tspfenugreek seeds (soaked)
  6. 1 tspSalt or as per requirement
  7. 1 tspSesame oil as required (for greasing)
  8. 20curry leaves
  9. 2drum stick (cut into pieces) (boiled)
  10. 2dried red chillies (broken into pieces)
  11. 2tomatoes (boiled)
  12. 1green chilli (broken into pieces)
  13. 1 1/2 cupboiled tuvar dal
  14. 2 tbspoil
  15. 1 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  16. 1 tbspsambhar masala
  17. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  18. 1/4 tspfenugreek seeds
  19. 1/4 tspAsefoetida
  20. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  21. 1/2 tspsalt or as required
  22. 1/2 glasswater or as required

    For idli:-
    In a grinder, add rice and water. Grind it till smooth paste. Keep the paste aside.

    Grind urad dal paste seperately. Add both paste in a bowl. Add fenugreek seeds. Mix well. Keep it aside for fermentation for 10 hours.

    After fermentation, add salt. Mix well. Take steam tray and grease it with sesame oil. Pour mixture. Steam for 10 minutes.

    Idlis are ready to serve.

    For sambhar:-
    Take oil in a vessel, add mustard seeds, add curry leaves, add dried red chillies, as this all crackles, add some water.

    Add salt, turmeric powder, fenugreek seeds, sambhar masala, boiled tuvar dal along with tomato pieces and drumstick. Boil well.

    Add coriander leaves and serve hot.
