Is brown sugar syrup what we call molasses? The syrup extracted from sugar during processing?

Sorry for the late reply. It's not quite the same as molasses - it's very dark in color, but has a lighter taste and maybe not as thick (like maple syrup maybe). You can try to substitute molasses though. It might have an interesting taste!
