Oyster Mushroom Clear Soup

It’s a good thing! It’s mad here. We have the ideal climate for growing lots of fruit and vege and rearing animals yet the supermarkets import from abroad as it’s cheaper; strawberries from Spain, potatoes from Egypt and lamb from New Zealand 🙄.

@FeelBetter here in Australia, especially in WA, locals are very supportive of local produce and everything local. It's really good to see how everyone helps one another. Some of Our local farmers open their farms to the public for PYO and even for weekend stay. When our kids were small we used to stay at the farm at the weekends and kids loved feeding the animals. Now kids are all big, their preferences are different 😅 and There are imported food too but we have our own local produce that come in season so we are good.

@FeelBetter the weather there should be similar like the one in Switzerland or Scotland right? Ideal for many seasonal fruits and vegetables.

When I lived in the south of Spain, everything was local but here it's a different story. We used to have lots of farms and PYO and every community had land for allotments and they were something like £10 a year to rent but nowadays with ever-expanding towns due to shortage of housing, we don't even get a garage with a house and certainly the land with the house isn't enough to grow produce. The farms, sadly, are being bought by fat cat builders and creating monstrous high density housing and warehousing to store imported goods.

@FeelBetter that is a sad changes. We still hv farms and similar to your place, housing is also a problem here. The land used to be affordable and now it's very costly for new construction (to build a house). There're lot of issues regarding housing here now and the rent is crazy expensive as well.

I live just an hour by car and half an hour by train north of London so this small town created just over 50 years ago was given city status a couple of years ago. There was a rule once that nothing could be built higher than the tallest tree but due to its location it now has a skyline of cranes and even the office blocks are being converted into rental units. As regards the weather we are halfway between Switzerland and Scotland so cold in the winter, sometimes get snow and sunny between rain showers in the summer months. This month has been exceptionally hot with a few days getting up to 28/29 degrees C.

Young adults now don't even go to the supermarket and have their weekly shop delivered. I prefer the old days, going to the market stalls and buying seasonal, fresh produce.

@FeelBetter you are right. I missed the old days too 😂 that makes us sound very old to young people nowadays 😂 everything around us is rapidly changing. The lives, the weather, the people etc.
