If it’s a leftover sponge, it’s a bit on the dry side, so it’s best to soak it a little more. However, this cream also soaks in well if you let it sit.🤗

Yes that’s why I suggested whisky. My mum used to make the driest sponge ever but was ok in trifle soaked in half a bottle of sherry

Whiskey—that's a great idea. 😂 Personally, though, I prefer something a bit lighter, like bourbon.
