Steps

Add some oil and the chopped onions into a kadai (on medium flame)

Add the chilli powder and some salt (to taste), switch off the heat and allow it to cool

Pour into a grinder and mix into a paste

In the empty kadai add some oil and the mustard seeds. When it starts to splutter add the curry leaves

Pour the paste into the kadai and allow it to boil and season to taste. Then serve
