Cooking Instructions
- 1
Peel the 6 apples and grate them. Place them in a nonstick saucepan (about 8 inches wide) over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and cook for 5-8 minutes, stirring, until the liquid evaporates.
- 2
In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 7 tablespoons (100 grams) of water. Pour this into the apple mixture. Stir over the heat until it thickens. Remove from heat, transfer to a bowl, and let cool.
- 3
In another bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well. Melt the butter in a small saucepan, then combine it with the sunflower oil in a bowl. This mixture will be used to brush the phyllo sheets.
- 4
Open a package of 12 phyllo sheets. Take the first sheet, brush it with the butter-oil mixture, and sprinkle evenly with some of the walnut mixture. Place the second sheet on top, brush it, and sprinkle with more walnut mixture.
- 5
Take the third sheet and place the apple filling along one edge, leaving about 1 inch from each corner. Fold in the sides and roll up the sheet to form a log. Repeat this process with the remaining phyllo sheets.
- 6
Use 3 sheets for each roll, making a total of 4 rolls. Place them on a baking sheet and cut into pieces. Brush each roll with melted butter and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown.

Enjoy! I highly recommend these—they are fantastic!

Greek Baklava Greek Baklava
My Greek Yiayia (meaning Grandmother in Greek) raised me after my mom died when I was 6 years old. She is from the Peloponnese part of Greece and she always made Baklava and other Greek foods as well. We lived in ALABAMA so she used the pecans from her pecan tree. This was a task because she gathered, cracked and cleaned all of the pecans herself and then milled them with an old fashioned hand turned grinder that she clamped to the side of the kitchen table. She made everything from scratch and I am truly blessed to be raised by her !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #baklava #greek ⚡Welderwoman⚡ -

Baklava with Lemon Syrup Baklava with Lemon Syrup
I'm not really a syrup kind of pastry fan, I am more of a white chocolate with strawberry fan. :) But because I do love to cook and bake I decided to make this Greek Syrup Pastry. Greeks tend to eat syrup based pastries, one of the favorites is Baklava. The Almonds and Walnuts added to this pastry, along with the lemon syrup just gives a really delicious taste.I do enjoy eating a piece of Baklava once in a while....:) Foodzesty
