Jhinga masala

Jhinga masala is favourite among many Indians. This recipe is made of some ingredients which are easily available at home. This recipe is made of fried shrimps , some fried potato pieces,ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, chopped onions, chopped tomato,salt, garam masala ,bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, kala zeera . You can add green chillies (slightly cut ) to enhance the taste of the recipe.

First wash and clean the shrimps. Then in a non-stick frying pan, add oil to saute the shrimps. Add salt and turmeric powder to shrimps and mix well. Saute the shrimps for 10 minutes at low flame. Then transfer to a plate. Keep aside. Peel potato and wash. Cut into pieces and fry them for 5-7 mins.

Heat oil in a non-stick kadhai and keep the flame medium. Now add 1 bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, kala zeera, mustard seeds. Saute for 10 -15 seconds then add chopped onions. Saute until the onions turn into golden brown colour. Now add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt, kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt. Mix well.Saute for 5mins. Now add chopped tomato. Again Saute until tomato gets soft and mashed.

Now add sauteed shrimps and fried potato pieces to the masala. Add green chillies (slightly cut). Mix everything well and cook 5 mins.

Now add water to make curry. Add garam masala to it. Cook for 10 -15 minutes in low flame.

Now switch off the flame. Serve with steamed rice or Paratha or rooti.
