Ingredients

4 servings
  1. Chicken Paprikash
  2. 3 lbChicken breasts, legs or thighs. Boneless and skinless thighs work great!
  3. 1/4 cupButter or margarine, melted
  4. 1/2 cupChopped onion
  5. 1/2 cupChopped red bell pepper
  6. 3/4 cupSliced fresh mushrooms
  7. 1/4 cupAll-purpose flour
  8. 2 tbspHungarian paprika
  9. 2 cupChicken broth
  10. 1/2 tspSalt
  11. 1/4 tspBlack pepper
  12. 8 ozContainer sour cream
  13. 1Hot cooked egg noodles

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Brown chicken in butter using a large deep pan, over medium heat. Remove chicken, reserving drippings in pan. Drain chicken on paper towels. Add red peppers, mushrooms and onions to pan with drippings. Cook over medium heat, until just tender.

  2. 2

Add flour and paprika. Cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute. It will be thick and pasty at this time. Gradually add chicken broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Add your chicken back to pan, cover and reduce heat. Simmer about 1 hour or until chicken is tender.

  3. 3

Stir in sour cream. Cook, stirring constantly, just until thoroughly heated. DO NOT BOIL. Serve over hot egg noodles, spaetzle or even gnocchi. Enjoy!

I would like to try this. Where might I find egg noodles, and have you made any changes to improve the recipe since?
