One of my favorite dish.Ghee Appam is a Tea snack made from rice, jaggery, ripe banana, pinch of salt, fresh grated coconut, roasted sesame seeds and cardamom powder fried in ghee.It as a prasad from Lord Ayyappa.Crispy on the outside and a soft inside with a yummy😋 banana flavor.

Ingredients

  • cupRaw Rice1
  • 1/2 cupWheat flour
  • 3/4 cupPalm Jaggery
  • PinchBaking soda
  • 4Cardamom
  • 1Ripe Banana
  • Pinchsalt (adjust to sweetness)
  • As neededGhee

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak the raw rice for 2 hour, grate the palm jaggery and set aside.

    Grind the Rice to a smooth paste, put chopped banana in the rice paste also cardamom and pinch of salt too. Grind smoothly and set aside.

    Take the wheat flour in a mixing bowl, take the palm jaggery in a pan and add very little amount of milk to it, Now strain out the Jaggery syrup to the wheat flour. Mix them well and add the grinded rice batter to it, and give a good mix..

  4. 4

    Heat a quad with ghee and fry the sesame. Put the grated coconut and sesame to the batter. Add a pinch of baking soda and mix them well.

  5. 5

    Heat a paniyaram pan and grease with some ghee in each hole fill 3/4th of the hole with prepared batter.Drop the batter, cover this.I used batter per hole. Cook in low-medium flame until the side turns golden brown. Now flip the appam using the spoon and cook the other side until they are fully done. Check by inserting a toothpick in the center and it should come out clean, with no raw batter sticking to it.
