Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 cupdried black chickpeas
  2. 1medium onion, finely chopped
  3. 1large tomato, finely chopped
  4. 1cucumber, finely chopped
  5. 1pomegranate
  6. 1small raw mango, peeled and finely chopped
  7. 1-2green chilies, finely chopped or minced
  8. 1 teaspoonred chilli powder
  9. 1 teaspoonchaat masala
  10. 1 teaspoonroasted cumin powder
  11. 1 teaspoondry mango powder
  12. 2-3 teaspoonslemon juice or add as required
  13. 1/2 teaspoonblack salt
  14. some chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak the dry chickpeas overnight or for 8-9 hours.

  2. 2

    In a pressure cooker add the soaked chickpeas with enough water.

  3. 3

    Pressure cook for 6-7 minutes or till the chickpeas are cooked well.

  4. 4

    Once the pressure cooker cools down, drain the cooked chickpeas

  5. 5

    In a large bowl, add all the ingredients including the black chickpeas, mix them.

  6. 6

    Taste and if required add more of the spice powders or salt.

  7. 7

    Before serving kala chana chaat just garnish with some coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
