Chana dal doce is a traditional Goan sweet often prepared during festivities. It is fudgy, soft and absolutely delicious. This Goan fudge is made using chana dal, freshly grated coconut, sugar and flavoured with cardamom. I have used dessicated coconut and used some almonds for garnishing on top.

Steps
- 1
Wash and soak the chana dal for 2-3 hours.
- 2
Boil the dal in a pressure cooker with water and salt till tender.
- 3
After it boils, let it cool then grind the dal in a mixer to make a paste.
- 4
Grind the dessicated coconut also and add the ground dal, sugar and coconut in a wok.
- 5
Mix it well on low to medium flame for 10-15 minutes.
- 6
Add cardamom powder and ghee and mix well again till the mixture comes together like a soft dough.
- 7
Line a board with parchment paper and put this dough on it and put another parchment paper on top and roll it gently to 1/2 inch thickness.
- 8
You can put some chopped almonds on top for garnish, roll gently again so the almonds get embedded.
- 9
Let it cool a little and then cut into your choice of shapes. I cut them diagonally.
