Indonesian Vegetable Fritters (bakwan sayur) Indonesian Vegetable Fritters (bakwan sayur)
#vegetablefritters#deepfryingfoodOne of the easiest and fastest appetizers or foods to make when a friend comes to visit is fried vegetables fritters.Today I made it in Indonesian style. In my country, these fried vegetables fritters are called #bakwansayur or #balabalaThis appetizer is a type of deep fried or fried food. In Indonesia these food is a type of street food. It is easy and super quick to make. Most of the ingredients are from vegetables. But you can add chopped shrimp if desired. Of course the taste will be very different. Shrimp will provide a richer taste. Sometimes I add minced or chopped shrimp. But to be safe most often I make it without shrimp. Because some of my friends are allergic to shrimp and some are vegetarian. So let’s take a look for the ingredients and how to make it! Nia Hiura -
Bakwan Sayur Renyah (Crunchy Indonesian Vegetables Fritters) Bakwan Sayur Renyah (Crunchy Indonesian Vegetables Fritters)
Who doesn’t like deep fried snacks? Indonesia 🇮🇩 is very popular for its crunchy fritters. When I was a kid,I liked to buy them a lot after school. The original version of these vegetables fritters are made of cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts. I’m not a big fan of cabbage so I used green beans instead of cabbage. You can either use cabbage or green beans. Enjoy! 😋 Follow my Instagram @jenscookingdiary if you like my recipes 😊🙏🏻 jenscookingdiary -

Vegetables Fritters (Indonesian Bala-Bala) Vegetables Fritters (Indonesian Bala-Bala)
#indonesianfood #vegetarian #veganfriendlyI was so craving with Indonesian deep fried snacks lately. So today I made this vegetables fritters for myself since my hubby is not really fans of any deep fried food. I choose vegetables fritters, because it’s very easy to make and also less ingredients. I can used any vegetables that I have in my fridge, then just adding flour, season with seasoning, mix together and fry it. Sounds easy right? Indeed, it is easy.By the way actually in Indonesia there are many kind of vegetables fritters. But normally they have similar ingredients and seasoning but some other region has different way of how to fried. In East Java, they’re using ladle to shape the batter and deep frying it. It’s called Weci, Heci, or Ote-ote. In West Java they’re simply just dropping the batter with the spoon into the hot oil and fried it. It’s called Bala-bala. So this time I am going to make bala-bala and I am simply using West Java methods to frying the vegetables fritters. Okay... let’s check on the ingredients and how to make it. Nia Hiura -

Bala-bala / Crispy Vegetable Fritters Bala-bala / Crispy Vegetable Fritters
This food is usually sold as street food together with fried tofu in batter, banana in batter and others. But buying sometimes can be concerning, so better make it my self.Bala-bala comes from the word "bala" which means "messy" or "dirty" in Sundanese (one of our local dialects, usually spoken in West Java) maybe because the shape of it is a lil bit messy so they call this that way.Anyway, have a try!
