Ingredients

  • 2medium size potatoes boiled and mashed
  • To tastesalt and pepper
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/4 tspCoriander powder
  • 1 tspcumin seeds powder
  • 1 tspsesame seeds fennel and Coriander seeds powder
  • 1 tspSesame seeds
  • 1/2 tspFennel seeds
  • 1 capsicumlemon juice
  • 1/2 tspsugar
  • For tempering
  • 1 tspmustard seeds
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 8-10curry leaves
  • 1 tspoil
  • For outer layer
  • 3-4 tspgram flour
  • 1ponch of baking soda
  • 1 tspajwain/carom leaves
  • To tastesalt
  • as neededWater

Steps

20 mins
  1. 1

    Boil and mash the potatoes and add all the powdered masalas. Temper the mixture. Mix well.

    Take gram flour and add salt and ajwain. Add pinch of baking soda. Add enough water and make a thick batter.

    Now make small roundels out of the potato mixture and dip into gram flour batter and deep fry. Enjoy batata vada hot with tamarind chutney.
