Boil and mash the potatoes and add all the powdered masalas. Temper the mixture. Mix well.

Take gram flour and add salt and ajwain. Add pinch of baking soda. Add enough water and make a thick batter.

Now make small roundels out of the potato mixture and dip into gram flour batter and deep fry. Enjoy batata vada hot with tamarind chutney.
