Steps
- 1
Rinse the mixed pulses/dal well and soak in water for about 3-4 hours.
- 2
Drain and transfer them to a pressure cooker. Add two and half cups of water with a pinch of salt. Pressure cook for two whistles on a medium flame. Remove from the heat and let the steam come out naturally.
- 3
Heat oil in a pan. Add cinnamon and cumin seeds. When they sizzle add chopped onion and the dry chilli. Saute till onion turns translucent. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, tadka masala powder, ginger garlic paste and salt. Saute till the raw smell of the garlic goes away. Add chopped tomato and cook till soft.
- 4
Now open the lid of the pressure cooker and pour the boiled dal into the pan. Mix well and cook on a low flame for few minutes.
- 5
Finally add garam masala powder and kasuri methi. Cover it and turn off the flame.
- 6
Ready is the mixed dal tadka to be served hot with roti/paratha/ naan.
