Ingredients

45 minutes
  • 2 cupsdried hibiscus flowers (jamaica), rinsed well (about 50 grams)
  • 1/2 cuppitted prunes (about 80 grams)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cupbrown sugar (or 1/3 cup, about 65-100 grams)
  • 3 tablespoonschili powder with lime and salt
  • 2 cupshibiscus tea (about 480 ml)

    Rinse the dried hibiscus flowers thoroughly, as they often have a lot of dirt.

    In a saucepan, add water, prunes, and hibiscus flowers. Bring to a boil.

  3. 3

    Once it has boiled, check that the hibiscus flowers are soft. If so, remove from heat and let cool. Strain the hibiscus flowers and prunes, reserving the water.

  4. 4

    In a blender, combine the hibiscus flowers, prunes, sugar, chili powder, lemon juice, and 2 cups of hibiscus tea. Blend until you reach the desired consistency. Enjoy with apple, jicama, cucumber, or anything you like.
