Steps
- 1
Oven on to 230°. Put burgers in an oven proof dish for approx 20 mins turning halfway. If you find they are very juicy then you can pour off some of the liquid so that the meat doesn't boil in it.
- 2
In a frying pan fry off some onion, and some mushrooms (assuming the family prefer them cooked to raw).
- 3
Then use the oil from the pan to lightly toast the inside of the burger buns.
- 4
Chop the cucumber, tomato, lettuce and gherkins and put each ingredient into small bowls for the centre of the table.
- 5
Collect up any sauces that the family like to add to their burgers such as barbecue. My son loves to mix his own "pink sauce" with mayonnaise and ketchup. Also any cheese you want to add- I like slices of mozzarella, my husband likes grated cheddar.
- 6
Get them to the table and ask them to assemble the burgers how they like them. Everyone gets exactly what they want and there is very little clean up.
