Sloe syrup

I picked some sloes this year and wanted to try something different rather than the usual sloe gin (although sloe gin is always great!) This syrup is really easy to make, I'm planning to use it for baking and a couple of cocktails

I picked some sloes this year and wanted to try something different rather than the usual sloe gin (although sloe gin is always great!) This syrup is really easy to make, I'm planning to use it for baking and a couple of cocktails
Steps
- 1
Add all ingredients to a pan, turn on the heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved
- 2
Bring to a gentle simmer, turn the heat down low and simmer for 40 minutes
- 3
The texture should now be syrup-like and the sloes should have burst
- 4
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove the stones and skins, leaving the smooth syrup
