A rich and a basic Sponge Cake. I have used Cadbury Chocolate in this just for a change. You can definitely omit that. I have placed a few pieces of the Chocolate on top of the batter just before popping it into the oven. And remember a simple yet an important trick which is using Baking Soda along with Buttermilk. This is the right way to do any cake using Buttermilk. Buttermilk is basic and it works pretty good when used with Baking Soda which raises well creating bubbles in the batter making your Cake airy and spongy. Using Baking Soda is a must with Buttermilk. And if using only Milk, then you can add only Baking powder. Some recipes do use both, therefore using Buttermilk is necessary, otherwise the result might not be good. And using a good Cocoa powder is also equally important. That's it.

But I mostly use Milk in my Cakes for a good spongy one. But there is no harm in using Buttermilk as many do. This recipe demands or for that matter, any good Cake requires a good beating. The wet batter should be beaten well before folding in the dry ingredients. Well that's it folks.
Happy Baking!

Steps

35-40 minutes
  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 180° at 40 minutes. By the time the batter is ready, it will get preheated for about a good ten minutes which is very much important. And then bake your cake for the rest of the time easily.

  2. 2

Beat Eggs, Oil and Sugar with Vanilla essence until creamy. This is important and use an electric hand held beater for this. It's really handy. You will be saved on a lot of time. Trust me. It's very easy folks.

  3. 3

In this wet mix, that is fluffy, creamy and frothy, fold in the dry ingredients slowly in parts. Do not add all at once. Do it slowly and steadily. Also remember to sieve all the dry ingredients once or twice.

  4. 4

Place some pieces of Cadbury Chocolate on the top as seen, tap it once gently and pop it in the oven. Bake until done. Check with a skewer which should come out clean. Let it cool down. Slice and enjoy.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
