Sukiyaki Beef Onigiri (牛肉すき焼きお握り)

Normally an onigiri of this type would be wrapped in nori, but after Mrs Wyrm developed parosmia/parageusia from a suspected coronavirus infection, a lot of things taste weird to her, which includes nori, onions, garlic, cucumber, and many other greens. So I had to skip nori, and onions that usually go into something like this. I thought to try toasting the rice to make yakionigiri so that it would be more firm, but that proved messier than just leaving things as is. 🇯🇵

Sukiyaki Beef (牛肉すき焼き) Sukiyaki Beef (牛肉すき焼き)
The rainy season has just begun and so now I've begun making hot pots. Most of the time the description has one cooking them on a portable stove but here I just keep it simple. You can put in a lot of other ingredients in addition the mushrooms that I've used, e.g. napa cabbage, carrots, tofu, shirataki noodles, konnyaku cakes, negi, etc. I only had the mushrooms left over from the last hot pot. 🇯🇵🫕🐮🥩🍄 蛟龍Stormwyrm -
Sukiyaki-Style Stir-Fried Beef Sukiyaki-Style Stir-Fried Beef
I had about 200 g of sukiyaki beef, but it was too little to go through the effort of making sukiyaki, so I made a variation of it in a frying pan. It's an easy way to prepare a sukiyaki-like meal.Adding the beef in two processes helps to keep it from getting too tough. You can use leek stalks in place of onions. Green onions can be substituted for mizuna greens. Recipe by Hanahanako. cookpad.japan -
Sukiyaki-Style Beef and Shimeji Mushrooms with Egg Sukiyaki-Style Beef and Shimeji Mushrooms with Egg
I made this to serve with rice for dinner! The thinly sliced beef belly meat has fat, so it will not harden when cooked, but if using meat aside from belly meat, take it out momentarily in Step 5, and add it back to the pot when you add in the eggs. Add a bit of mirin for those of you with a sweet tooth. For 3~4 people. Recipe by abichi cookpad.japan -
Kansai-Style Sukiyaki Beef Bowl Onions Galore Kansai-Style Sukiyaki Beef Bowl Onions Galore
I wanted to make a beef bowl, the same way I made sukiyaki.Since this recipe uses a lot of onions you may want to add more soy sauce. This is my mom's way of making sukiyaki. Kansai-style doesn't use wari-shita (stock used to flavor sukiyaki), so it's a little strong and perfect over rice. Recipe by gomacookie cookpad.japan -

Sukiyaki Rice Bowl Sukiyaki Rice Bowl
For lunch! Simple and delicious sukiyaki rice bowl. Make it with cheap cuts of meat.Add the meat once the other ingredients are about 60% cooked through, so that it won't be overcooked. The Japanese leek will also get mushy if overcooked, so add it in last and just let it simmer briefly. The wheat gluten and shirataki noodles will soak up the sauce. Beef Rice Bowl Made of Thinly Sliced Sukiyaki Meat Beef Rice Bowl Made of Thinly Sliced Sukiyaki Meat
I had leftover sukiyaki beef, so I simmered it to make a beef rice bowl. You can use shredded meat as long as it's beef. If you simmer the meat for too long, it'll become hard, so make sure that you cook it until it's just cooked through, then let it absorb the flavour in residual heat. When the taste is too strong, adjust with water. Recipe by Ni-na cookpad.japan -

Meat Wrapped Onigiri Rice Balls using Shabu-Shabu Pork Slices Meat Wrapped Onigiri Rice Balls using Shabu-Shabu Pork Slices
I wanted to make hearty and filling onigiri that would be satisfying even when there aren't a lot of side dishes in the bento box.If you roll the meat wrapped rice balls around while the meat is uncooked it will fall off, so cook it one section at a time. When all sides are browned, it's ok to roll them around. If you clean the frying pan with paper towels once the meat is cooked before adding the flavoring ingredients, the rice balls won't burn so easily. Recipe by ss mama cookpad.japan -
