Ingredients

2 strings
  • 2 cupsfresh grapes juice
  • 24 walnuts
  • 1 tablespooncornflour
  • 2 tablespooncastor sugar
  • 1 teaspoonoil

    Wash 3 cups of fresh black or red grapes. Put it in a blender and mixer and make its juice. Seive the juice so that its soft and smooth and no skin or seeds are there. We need 2 cups juice.

    Now all you need is this... and little red food colour as I added in mine

    Take 2 cups of juice in a thick bottom small pan and let it cook on medium flame. Let it thick little then we take the cornflour in a small bowl and mix 2 spoons of the juice in it and make a smooth paste. Add the paste to the rest of the juice in pan. Keep stiring for 10 to 15 mins till you get thick consistency. I added 2 drops of red food colour at this stage to give a dark red colour. You can just leave it as it is also. Keep stirring the mixture so that it doesn't stick.

    You will know the puree is ready once the puree stays on the spoon and doesnt drip. If its dripping cook little more and also can add little more cornflour.

    Now, once the puree is ready all you need is to take a needle and thread and carefully thread the walnuts like a string as shown. Put the knots at the ends so the walnuts don't loosen up. Like we thread the beads necklace.

    Let the puree cool down a bit and then slowly dip the threaded walnuts string one by one into the pan. Ensure that all the walnuts are properly coated. Let the strings cool down. The remaining puree you can store in the refigerator for 1 more coating.

    Keep the strings on a baking paper n refrigerate them for 2 to 3 days. Till the coating is dried n not sticking on hands. Repeat the process of dipping 1 more time and let it rest for 2 more days. Now its ready to eat and enjoy your walnut Churchkhela..

    Note: you can store them in an airtight container for at least 10 to 15 days.
