Chayote is packed with nutrients and is great for a low-calorie diet. This recipe is perfect for lunch, served with a side like a fresh salad and a piece of plantain.

Heat the oil in a nonstick skillet. Add the onion, finely diced, and the chopped garlic. Sauté until fragrant, then add the ground beef without salt so it doesn't release its juices.

Once the beef is browned and separated, add salt and oregano. Then add the peeled chayote, cut into small cubes. Cover the skillet and let it cook.

After about 5 minutes, add a little turmeric.

Stir and cook for a few more minutes. Adjust salt to taste. Serve and enjoy. I served it with a piece of plantain cooked in the microwave and a fresh salad.
