Steps
- 1
Rinse the rice in a bowl of cold tap water, use your fingers or a spoon to swirl the rice around to wash some of the starch away. Empty the rice into a colander and rinse with fresh water. Repeat a further 2 times.
- 2
Add the 2 cups of water to a medium saucepan. Add the rice to the water and stir it. Once the heat is on don't stir the rice.
- 3
Heat over medium-high heat and bring to a boiling point. Let the rice boil until some of the water has evaporated and the water level is now just below the rice level.
- 4
Turn the heat down to the lowest setting. Place a clean kitchen towel in between the pot and the lid to avoid steam escaping. Set a timer for 15 minutes.
- 5
Once the time is up turn the heat off completely and leave it for a further 10 minutes before removing the lid.
- 6
Using a fork fluff the rice and serve.
