Sugar-crafted Flowers

I wanted to decorate some cookies, but store bought decorations were too expensive, so I made this recipe.
Shapes that are roughly rolled or flattened turn out looking much more natural than carefully sculpted perfect shapes. Recipe by Yuu choco mama

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Put the marshmallows into a small bowl (about the size of a ricebowl). Microwave this for 30 seconds. It's ready when the marshmallows have expanded.
- 2
Pour in the powdered sugar and mix with a spoon or similar. Since it's hot, be careful not to do this with your hands. Once it starts to cool, dust your hands with katakuriko and bring together.
- 3
The paste is easiest to work with if it is the consistency of slightly hardened paper-mache, so knead in a bit more powdered sugar if you think the paste is too loose.
- 4
Wrap the paste in plastic wrap, and you are finished!
- 5
Here I colored the paste red and stacked it with a white paste. I combined these by rolling them together. If the paste sticks to the table, dust lightly with katakuriko.
- 6
Roughly chop the length into small round balls, and flatten them between two sheets of plastic wrap or other nonstick material.
- 7
I recommend using a silicone sheet. The paste will not stick, so it is very handy.
- 8
Stack the desired number of petals together in a round and press the center with the flat end of a toothpick to create a concave center with the petals lifting up.
- 9
It is cute if you use silver dragées in the center.
- 10
Next we will make a rose. Prepare about 8 petals. Starting in the center, overlap the petals around the center in a spiral pattern.
- 11
It should look like this.
- 12
There is one more way to make a rose. Roll out the petals very thin and press them together, overlapping slightly, as seen in the photo here.
- 13
Take the chain of petals you have just created and roll it up to create a rose shape.
- 14
Let the flowers air dry and they will become rock hard. Store them in an airtight container with a package of silica gel to absorb moisture, the decorations will keep indefinitely.
- 15
If you have leftover paste, wrap it very well in plastic and store it in the refrigerator for later use.

Elegant Japanese Sweets (Jo-Namagashi) for Spring Elegant Japanese Sweets (Jo-Namagashi) for Spring
I wanted to make adorable Japanese sweets that were perfect for spring, so I did some experimenting with uiro dough, trying to make it not too stiff but not too soft. Finally, I thought it looked about right, so I uploaded the recipe. If you need to re-shape the dough, roll it into a ball, cover it with plastic wrap and microwave it for 30 seconds, then stretch it out. If you have too much of the shiro-an, it'll stick out of the sides, so be sure to match the amount of bean paste to the size of the circle of dough. My microwave is 600w, but yours may differ, so please adjust the microwave time in step 3 accordingly. The grains of flour shouldn't be visible, and it should be springy. When the dough dries out it gets hard, so you may want to cover it with plastic wrap while you're working. Recipe by Shiropiyo cookpad.japan -

Easy Spritz Cookies, Gorgeous Flowers & Hearts Easy Spritz Cookies, Gorgeous Flowers & Hearts
I didn't really like the simple coloring of baked sweets in general, and came up with this recipe while I was in grade school, thinking it'll be perfect for many celebrations, such as enrollment, commencement, etc. I've been using it as a gift during many occasions for many years ever since.Following a request I received, I listed katakuriko potato starch as a substitute ingredient for corn starch, but I changed it to cake flour since although using katakuriko starch made it easier to pipe, the grooved pattern didn't come out that well. The grooved pattern will come out better when the dough is firm. When using powdered food coloring, dissolve with warm water or water, and color it stronger. If the dough seems too firm during the winter etc., soften by adding water or milk (no more than about 10 ml) or by warming it up a bit.I made the dough in the photo by putting the colored dough between the non-colored ones. The coloring will come out nicely that way. My grandkids expect cookies at Christmas time and so does the rest of the fam so I started off this morning with these. Super easy and done with a cookie scoop. I use shortening a lot because it’s more stable than butter and no cholesterol. Probably most have had these before. I made these with a sugar cookie dough instead of a brown sugar dough. I think They like them better🎄 SherryRandall: The Leftover Chronicles
