Macaroni au Gratin for Beginners

I love white cream sauce, so I came up with my own recipe.

Please feel free to adjust the amount of macaroni used depending on how hungry you are.
It's also delicious as a leftover. Place the filling in the refrigerator and you can enjoy it the next day as well!
After baking, just microwave any leftovers the next day. Still delicious!!
You can also mix in greens if you like for a nice look. Recipe by Enashiyou

Steps

  1. 1

Add salt (not listed) to plenty of hot water, and boil the macaroni as directed on the package (I like it al dente).

  2. 2

Add the flour to a cup, and mix in the milk a little at a time. Be careful to avoid lumping! Really just a little at a time!

  3. 3

Slice the onion, and cook in an oiled frying pan until wilted.

  4. 4

Melt the butter over high heat in the same frying pan with the onions. Once melted add Step 2 and cook.

  5. 5

Mix, and after 2 to 3 minutes it'll look like this. Then reduce to medium heat.

  6. 6

Time for the flavor. Add the consomme (or bouillon), salt, and pepper and mix.

  7. 7

Mix in the frozen shrimp. Once they've thawed add the macaroni and keep mixing. This gives you the filling!!

  8. 8

Place into a heat-resistant container, place the cheese on top, then top with grated cheese and panko. You can also add an egg if you like.

  9. 9

Bake in the oven until golden brown. About 15-20 minutes at 200℃? Adjust accordingly depending on your oven at home.

  10. 10

    Time to enjoy!
