Mango Shrikhand or Amrakhand or Matho is a traditional Gujarati – Maharashtrian recipe made using hung curd and fresh mango puree. It’s served as a dessert or side dish with poori. Mango Shrikhand or Amrakhand or Matho is a traditional Gujarati – Maharashtrian recipe made using hung curd and fresh mango puree. It’s served as a dessert or side dish with poori. Shrikhand is a traditional sweet recipe that is very popular in the Northern part of India and many families serve it chilled after their everyday meals. Made with hung curd, this sweet is light and perfect for those summery meals.

First of all, add homemade curd in a bowl of cotton cloth in a bowl and put a sieve under the clothes so that all the water from the curd is drained. Put a heavy object on it and keep it in the fridge overnight so that the curd does not become too sour. Then add heated milk in a bowl, add saffron string and keep in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Now all the water from our curd is drained and the hung curd without any water is ready. Now add this hung curd to another bowl and add. Now add milk powder and powder sugar and whisk the hung curd well. (Adding milk powder to the shrikhand makes the shrikhand darker)

Now add mango pulp and saffron milk in this Shrikhand and mix well. Now add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and pistachio powder and mix everything lightly by hand. Then let the whey set in the freezer for 3 hours.

Now pour this Shrikhand in a serving bowl and serve. Now garnish this shrikhand with mango pieces, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, pistachio powder, pistachio slices, dry rose petals and saffron string.
