Homemade Dried Apples for Storing

I found some apples on sale at the supermarket .
I wanted to make dried apples for sweets without spending too much on them.
Since the apples will be simmering in the moisture they produce, I recommend using a shallow and wide pot.
You could also use a frying pan.
Store the finished product in a jar with desiccants. Recipe by xxyuzumikanxx

Steps
- 1
Slice the apple into 8 mm - 1 cm thick wedges, then arrange them in a pot. If they are too thin, they will not stiffen after they're candied.
- 2
Sprinkle in granulated sugar, then let sit for 2-3 hours (the apples will release moisture).
- 3
Heat the pot, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes (they will fall apart if you simmer them for too long).
- 4
Strain for about 1 hour after they cool.
- 5
Line a baking tray with parchment paper, then arrange the apple slices on top and bake for 40 minutes at 110℃. Flip over the slices, then bake for another 40 minutes.
- 6
Once they cool, let them sit at room temperature or in a cool location until they reach your desired firmness, then they are done.
- 7
If you simmer them with the skins on in Step 3, they will turn a pretty light pink You can also use this recipe for strawberries or pineapples.
