Carasau bread is thin and crispy, made with simple ingredients like durum wheat semolina, water, and salt. It’s baked twice—first to cook, then to toast—giving it a golden look and a unique flavor.

A quick and delicious main course solution using Sardinian-style carasau bread.
Carasau bread is thin and crispy, made with simple ingredients like durum wheat semolina, water, and salt. It’s baked twice—first to cook, then to toast—giving it a golden look and a unique flavor.

Prepare the seafood base: In a pot, heat a little olive oil. Add the well-drained seafood mix, stir, and cook for a few minutes. Add the wine and salt, then cook until the liquid has completely evaporated (no more than 10 minutes).

Spread 1 tablespoon of béchamel sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer as follows: carasau bread (I recommend two sheets), 2 tablespoons béchamel, 2 tablespoons seafood base, and 2 tablespoons grated cheese.

I made 3 layers, but you can make as many as you like!

Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 10–15 minutes, until golden brown.
