  • 1/2 cupHorsegram,washed,and soak in water for half an hr
  • 10shallots,skinned
  • 4 dry chilli,soaked in hot water for 15 minutes
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

    Cook the soaked Horsegram in pressure cooker 5 whistle. In high flame and 5 in Medium flame.keep it aside till pressure is released.don’t drain the water after pressure cooker is opened

    In a mortar and pestle,crush the shallots

    Take the red chilli and crush in mortar and pestle.remove seeds.I kept seeds of one chilli.

    Heat a pan and add 3 tbsp. Of oil.when oil is hot add crushed shallots and curry leaves.sauté till shallots turn aromatic and slightly brown.keep heat in medium to Low

    Add crushed chilli and sauté till raw smell of chilli s gone.ensure heat is Low.

    Add turmeric powder and salt,mix well and sauté for a minute.

    Add the cooked horse gram along with the water in cooker and mix well.

    Keep cooking till there is no water left.stir for few minutes till it’s dry and bit crispy.serve hot.
