Ingredients

20 minutes
4 servings
  • 2 cupsBasmati Rice
  • 1 cupChana dal
  • 3 tbspGhee
  • 1Bay leaf
  • 2Green Cardamom
  • 1Cinnamon stick
  • 2Clove
  • 1 tspGarlic paste
  • 1 tspRed Chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspGaram masala powder
  • As per taste Salt
  • 1 tbspCoriander leaves
  • For Garnishing
  • 1small Onion(sliced)
  • 6-8Cashews
  • 1Star anise
  • 1Green Chilli

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak chana dal for 30 minutes, strain and keep aside.

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and put whole garam masalas.

    Add garlic paste, chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder.

    Add soaked chana dal, coriander leaves, and salt.

    Wash and strain basmati rice, then add in cooker.

    Mix all well, sauté for a minute, add water and cook for 2 whistles or till it is done.

    Garnish with fried onions, fried cashews, and green chili, Serve hot.
